A Seeker with the Church of Wee Jas. He fights with a combination of magic and a katana, favouring hit-and-run style combat.
Mordreth was born in Dashar, but didnt spend much time in aby one place. His parents were archeologists and spent most of their time travelling around the various ruins, often taking Mordreth with them. While his parents didnt negect his education, Mordreth missed many opportunities that children of his age would have to make friends. This led Mordreth to becoming a serious and independant child, traits that persisted into adulthood.
At 16 Mordreth requested that he be sent to a more stable home, or school. So his parents enrolled him in one of the most prestigious colleges in Dashar, where they had a number of connections. He thoroughly enjoyed the learning, but he found socialising very difficult, being very unused to the company of people his same age. Despite this he finished at the top of his class, favouring religious and arcane knowledge. Once he graduated he decided to try travelling alone, so he packed his bags, said his farewells and set off for Salamon.
During the journey he made good friends with a travelling cleric of Wee Jas, Marlina. She showed Mordreth much kindness, and when they landed in Salamonis she found him a place to stay and a job tending to the temple. He enjoyed his work, it was simple and peaceful, but unfortunately didnt pay well, so could only afford very basic accomodation in a small village an hour outside of Salamonis. His commute was long, and occasionally dangerous, as it required he went through some fairly rough areas of the city.
One day as he was walking through the city on the way home from the temple he over-heard the sounds of fighting. Unsure of what to do he cautiously snuck closer to the sounds. He climbed a wall and peeked over and saw 2 elves caught up in a beautiful dance of combat. They fought so gracefully that Mordreth found it hard to seperate the two from each other. As he looked closely he saw, to his surprise, that each fighter would occasionally disappear from sight, stike out with a glowing fist, or jump through the air unnaturally quickly.
Mordreth continued to watch until they suddenly stopped, and parted ways, with no words exchanged. He was so amazed by what he saw that he stopped by the same place every day. He would watch them dance and fight, and each day the two would change their style in an attempt to overcome the other. They would occasionally seem to get the upperhand, only to be returned to a stalemate by an unexpected mavoeuver.
One day as he was watching they both suddenly disappeared from sight only to reappear agin directly behind Mordreth. They questioned him about who he was, and what he wanted. He wanted to learn, to fight like them. They rejected him at first, but after many more weeks of watching and waiting, they allowed him to learn.
It took nearly a decade, but eventually he could hold his own agaisnt them. He could entwine his swordplay with magic and strike unexpectedly from any angle, and disappear from sight in an instand. Durning this time he dillegently continued his work at the temple of Wee Jas, sparring only at night. He was exhausted nearly every day, but he loved every second. He also continued to develop his relationship with Marlina, soon he had a deep intimate relationship, or at least as close as he could be with her vows to the church.
After his decade of learning Mordreth felt he should use his new found abilites to help the church in more ways than just to sweep the hard to reach areas of the temple. So he asked if he could join the next intake of initiates. He was adept at the scriptures and rituals of Wee Jas, having observed them for 10 years. However, his combat prowess set him apart from his cohort. Therefore it was decided that he should be inducted into the Seekers. This would require him to seek out and prevent any evil forces from harming innocents living the city and its surrounding villages. Usually this would involve stopping rouge casters, summoner and outsiders.
This suited Mordreth perfectly. His duty to Wee Jas, and his increasing knowledge of the city made him a dedicated and efficient Initiate, soon gaining the rank of Investigator. This allowed him to undertake solo missions. However, there was rarely enough work to keep his income at an adequate level, so he was forced to freelance in various adventuring and investigation missions.
During this time he made a number of contacts that would help him in his enquiries, including the Secretary of the Adventurer’s Guild Leorna, and a reporter for the City Herald. He of course maintained his relationship with Marlina, visiting her often. As much as they both wanted to, thier roles in the church prevented them developing a romantic attachment.
Mordreth’s latest assignment has been to track down and destroy the Cult operating in Salamonis led by someone called Sara, who has been linked to the plague that has been sweeping through the city.
